Boost in new players at Gala Bingo venue in Irvine.
A bingo venue in Scotland has offered further proof that bingo is enjoying a resurgence as Britons look for entertainment alternatives during the economic downturn. The Gala Bingo club in Irvine has experienced an upsurge in attendance levels in the last few weeks, with 1,300 bingo players visiting the venue on one day recently, the Irvine Times reports.
General manager Dale Imrie told the newspaper that a mixture of experienced bingo players and newcomers were seen enjoying the game on the day in question.
He revealed: "The whole club was packed with customers and there was a real community atmosphere.
"The diehard bingo fans were happy to help the bingo virgins get the hang of it and it was fantastic to see some of the new players winning on their first ever bingo game."
Last month, Morecambe bingo manager Mark Dowling told the Lakeland Echo that bingo venues are becoming popular places to socialise during the recession because "you can end up with more money than you started out with".
