Poker fans get new betting markets for World Series in Las Vegas.
With excitement over the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) growing on both sides of the Atlantic, one sports betting firm has priced up a series of markets for the event. The 40th WSOP gets underway at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on May 27th, prompting poker players from around the world to head to the Nevada desert city for a slice of the action.
Boylesports.com is offering a number of special wagers for the world's biggest poker festival, with punters able to bet on markets such as the top Scandinavian player and the player who cashes the most money.
"Betting on the WSOP has gone from strength to strength in recent years, as it gives ordinary punters a chance to have an interest in the outcome of the series and use their poker knowledge," said Paul Spillane of Boylepoker.com.
Holder of five WSOP bracelets Phil Ivey is the current favourite to win the most money in the event this year at 8/1, while Canadian card sharp Daniel Negreanu is a 14/1 bet.
Dane Peter Eastgate, last year's main event winner, can be backed at 16/1 to finish as the top Scandinavian player this time around.
