Casinos and Bingo Halls Fear Loss of US Customers

Caesars Windsor and area bingo halls are already taking action out of fear of the possibility of the loss of American customers from June 1st, when travellers by land to the U.S. will be required to show documentation.

About 40 percent of their bingo clients come from the U.S, and as many as 60 percent of the casino visitors from Caesars Windsor are coming from across the border. The casinos and bingo halls are making information and application forms available to their customers.

Tony Rosa, the president and CEO of Community Gaming and Entertainment – the owner of Windsor’s bingo halls, said “We’re providing pamphlets and information to help our American customers acquire the right U.S documentation. Potentially, it could be a huge hit to our business because we have a substantial amount of U.S customers. It’s a big number and we’re worried about it.”

Rosa continued by explaining that so far many U.S. customers have already arranged the correct documentation, but other have not. The initiative – called the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, requires that all land travellers carry secure documentation to enter the country.

Passport application and renewal forms are available at information desks at Caesars Windsor, to help customers through the transition.
