Don Cheadle and Annie Duke are continuing their African fund raising through charity poker tournaments. The forthcoming tournament will be their third “Ante Up For Africa” poker tournament, and will be a part of the World Series of Poker.
The WSOP organizers have confirmed that this year the Ante Up For Africa tournament will be televised by ESPN.
The 2009 Ante Up For Africa Celebrity –Charity Poker Tournament will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, on July 2nd. The tournament will be No-Limit Hold’em, and will have an entry fee of $5,000. Celebrities, athletes, and poker pros will all be taking part, competing for a six figure prize.
Annie Duke said “It is an honor and very exciting to have ESPN turn the cameras on for our event. This will make great strides in raising awareness about this ongoing crisis.”
Don Cheadle said “I am very pleased that we have raised almost 2 million to date and appreciative of everyone who has participated and donated to help us on our mission of bringing the plight of the refugees of Darfur to the forefront of people’s minds.”
