Burnley to face Sheffield United in playoff final at Wembley

Bookmakers offer odds on relegation for Championship playoff rivals.

Bookmakers are taking bets on whether the winner of this season's Championship playoff final will be relegated from the Premier League in their first season.

Burnley beat Reading 2-0 last night (May 12th) to seal a 3-0 aggregate victory and book their place in the final at Wembley on May 25th, when they will face Sheffield United.

William Hill makes the Blades favourites to reach the top flight at 8/11, while punters can also bet on either side going straight back down to the Championship after promotion.

Sheffield United are 8/15 to be relegated immediately and Burnley are a 2/5 chance to spend just one season in the Premier League if they make it up.

Those expecting Owen Coyle's team to stay in the top tier beyond the first season can get odds of 7/4 at William Hill.

Meanwhile, Steve Coppell has resigned as Reading manager following the defeat to Burnley.

The 53-year-old took over at the Madejski Stadium in 2003 and guided Reading to the Premier League in 2006, but they were relegated last year.
