British boxer reveals his bingo habit

Carl Froch claims to enjoy trips to Nottingham bingo hall with his family.

Bingo players in Nottingham are likely to see world boxing champion Carl Froch at their next Sunday night game.

The 31-year-old WBC super-middleweight title-holder told the People that he prefers his local bingo hall to celebrity parties and glamorous film premieres, despite his status as the UK's only world champion.

Froch told the newspaper that he frequently shuns invitations to "red-carpet dos" in order to accompany his mother to the bingo club in his hometown.

"I'm not big on the celebrity thing. I'm a grounded individual - I still go to bingo at The Top Spot in Nottingham on a Sunday night with my mum. I love it!" he said.

Froch defended his WBC crown against Jermain Taylor at Connecticut's Foxwoods casino resort in April, when he produced an astonishing comeback to stop the American in the final round.

His next fight, which could take place in Nottingham, is expected to be against Canada's Lucian Bute in September.
