Rounders screenwriters team up for a new movie based in the online casino world.
A new film set in the world of online casinos is reportedly in the early stages of development, with Leonardo DiCaprio lined up for a starring role.According to the Hollywood Reporter, the as-yet untitled movie was written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the screenwriting duo behind Rounders and Ocean's Thirteen.
Costa Rica-based online casino and poker operators are said to be the main focus of the film, with major production studio Paramount Pictures set to finance the project.
Known for his roles in Titanic and The Beach, DiCaprio was most recently seen alongside Kate Winslet in Revolutionary Road, the adaptation of Richard Yates' 1961 novel of the same name.
Released in 1998, Rounders stars Matt Damon and Edward Norton as card sharps on the underground poker scene in New York.
Although the film was not a huge success on opening, it steadily accumulated a cult following as the popularity of Texas hold'em poker grew rapidly around the world.
