Big poker win for Herts player

TV producer wins $50,000 at poker tournament in London.

Aisling Collins, a 28-year-old television producer from Rickmansworth, is celebrating after winning $50,000 (£30,385) in a poker tournament last week.

The experienced poker player came first in the PartyPoker Women's World Open in London after outlasting a competitive field of international players and beating Kim Wooka in heads-up play.

Before the tournament, Ms Collins' largest win in a poker event had been about $8,000 so she was particularly pleased with her spoils this time around, the Watford Observer reports.

She told the newspaper: "I'm in shock. It is fantastic to win $50,000 - I just don't know what I am going to do with it yet.

"I was so nervous going into this tournament but after a while I found it easy to relax and play my natural game."

According to Bluff magazine, the seven heats and the final of the Women's World Open are set to be televised on Five later this year.
