IGT Could Supply Slot Machines For Singapore Casinos

Two new casinos are set to open in Singapore

IGT's involvement in Singapore could prove to be more lucrative than its Macau business.

International Game Technology (IGT) has entered into talks that could see it supply slot machines to what will be two of Asia's biggest casinos.

In a statement released by the gaming machine manufacturer, it announced that it is in discussions with both Las Vegas Sands and Genting's Resorts World over the contracts for their forthcoming venues in Singapore.

Speaking to Reuters, IGT's vice president of international casino markets said that the company expects the Singapore market to be worth more to it than the existing market in Macau.

At present, it is estimated that the company holds just a 20 per cent share in Macau's slot machine market, while it also operates interests across Europe and Africa.

Meanwhile, Forbes has speculated that Singapore may be able to win some of Macau's customers, thanks partly to lower taxation rates.

In comparison to the 39 per cent tax levied on casinos in Macau, venues due to open up in the city state will likely face a tax rate of just 12 per cent, thereby allowing them to offer bigger prizes and draw in the high-rollers.
