Brian Lemke took his first ever World Series of Poker cashout - taking first place in Event 15 - a $5,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament, and taking $692,658 in prize money for the victory.
Lemke bested a field of 655 players, including Fabian Quoss, who dominated most of the event, and took the second place prize of $427,912.
In other news, Jeffrey Lissandro took $124,975 in prize money for winning Event 16, a seven-card stud poker tournament. Rodney Pardey took second place in that event, with a prize of $77,229.
This year’s tournament has been a good one for newcomers. Lisa Hamilton won the Ladies Hold’em Championship, with Lori Bender taking second place, and Mari Lou Morelli taking third place.
The Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better tournament, Event 18, is now down to five players, narrowed down from the starting field of 179. The chip leader is Daniel Alaei, who has a massive lead over the other players. Well-known and popular poker pro Daniel Negreanu is currently in fifth place, with a comparatively small stack.
Event 19, the six-handed No-Limit Hold’em tournament, still has 48 players in contention - narrowed down from the original field of 1068. The current chip leader is Brock Parker, who comes fresh from a victory in Event 14 - the Limit version of this tournament.
Event 20, a Pot Limit Hold’em tournament, has just begun, as has the ever popular H.O.R.S.E tournament, event 21.
