Casino plans sent back for further consideration in Milton Keynes.
Plans to build a new casino and hotel at the Xscape site in Milton Keynes have been temporarily halted as councillors seek more information on the environmental impact of the project. The proposal was recently given the green light by planning officials but has now been called back due to concerns over several aspects of the development, including parking facilities and the height of the hotel tower, the MK News reports.
Ken Baker, architect and chairman of Central Milton Keynes Town Council, said that the building would be the tallest structure in the town centre and therefore requires a detailed examination.
He told the newspaper: "This submission was made without an environmental impact assessment. This is a building that needs to be considered a little bit more thoroughly."
The move to delay the planning decision was introduced by councillor Catriona Morris and backed by 24 other members of the council.
Voted the UK's top visitor attraction in 2007, Xscape is a leisure and entertainment centre containing indoor snow slopes, rock climbing, bowling, a cinema and retail outlets.
