Local authority requests area devoted to novice gamblers in new Bath casino.
Any new casino built in Bath must include an area devoted to beginners, the local authority has stated. The Somerset city was one of eight UK locations granted a licence for a new small casino by the government last year, with several developers now thought to be interested in the project.
According to the Bath Chronicle, the policy document on gambling is currently being reviewed by members of Bath and North East Somerset Council.
It states that the successful casino developer will "be required to state and demonstrate what ultimate benefit they can bring to the residents of Bath and North East Somerset and how they can contribute to the wellbeing of the area".
The document also specifies that the casino should offer guidance to novice gamblers in a section where they can learn about the various games on offer "without feeling intimidated or embarrassed".
A period of consultation on the draft casino policy will run until the end of August, with a revised policy due to be presented to the council for approval in November.
The other locations selected for new small casinos are Dumfries and Galloway, East Lindsey in Lincolnshire, Luton, Scarborough, Swansea, Torbay and Wolverhampton.
