Parry Heads Up Sports Betting Integrity Panel

Ricky Parry joins representatives of leading bookmakers on new integrity panel.

Rick Parry, the outgoing chief executive of Liverpool FC, has been appointed to chair a new expert panel on sports betting integrity.

Put together by sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe, the panel will comprise of representatives from the betting industry, the Gambling Commission, the police, players, fans, sports governing bodies and the legal profession.

The organisation's remit is to address issues that threaten the integrity of sport in the UK and help to tackle corruption in sports betting.

"I am delighted that Rick Parry has agreed to lead this vitally important work," Mr Sutcliffe said.

"His expertise in the nation's most high-profile sport, along with that of the other panel members, will give this project the impetus it needs to tackle sports betting corruption head-on."

Parry is a former chief executive of the Premier League and has held the post of chief executive at Anfield for the last 12 years.

Other members of the integrity panel include William Hill's director of security Bill South and Nic Coward, chief executive of the British Horseracing Authority.
