Sports betting firms make Murray second favourite to win at Roland Garros.

Rafael Nadal's shock fourth-round defeat at the French Open has seen Andy Murray installed as the second favourite to win the tournament.

The British number one was set to meet Nadal in the semi-finals, but Robin Soderling's surprise victory over the defending champion yesterday (May 31st) means the competition has been blown wide open.

Sports betting firm William Hill now makes Murray 4/1 to triumph at Roland Garros, while Roger Federer is the new favourite at 11/10.

"Murray may never have a better chance and we have seen good money for the young Scot," said Rupert Adams, spokesperson for the bookmaker.

After beating Marin Cilic in straight sets yesterday, Murray faces a quarter-final match against Chile's Fernando Gonzalez in Paris on Tuesday.

Federer reached the last eight with a battling five-set victory over Tommy Haas of Germany and will face either Gael Monfils or Andy Roddick in his next match.
