The Mecca Bingo venue in Knotty Ash, Liverpool, recently rewarded one of its longest-serving members with a surprise birthday party.Sally Melia, who has played at the club for the last 43 years, celebrated her 103rd birthday in style as staff rolled out the red carpet and greeted their VIP guest with cards, cake and balloons.
Now acknowledged as Mecca's oldest customer, Ms Melia still visits her local bingo hall every week and credits the numbers game with helping to keep her mind active, clickliverpool.com reports.

She told the website: "I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't get down to the bingo for my weekly visit. It helps keep me active and you meet some lovely people at the bingo.
"One of these days I'm sure I'll land the big jackpot!"
An player identified by the News & Star as 32-year-old Lynsey Mirehouse from Cumbria recently won £1.2 million at Mecca's online bingo portal.
