Wimbledown triumph creates new Federer bets with sports betting firms.
With Roger Federer claiming a record-breaking 15th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon on Sunday (June 5th), bookmakers are taking bets on how many majors the Swiss star will win before he retires.William Hill makes Federer 4/1 to have won over 20 Grand Slams by the time he quits tennis, while punters expecting him to finish with 18 can get odds of 9/2.
The 27-year-old from Basel is also 9/1 not to win another major crown following his epic five-set triumph over the in-form Andy Roddick on Centre Court.
However, Federer has declared his intention to carry on playing for several years, with the US Open in August providing his next opportunity for Grand Slam glory.
"Roger could go on for several more years if he remains motivated - which is bad news for Andy Murray and patriotic punters," said William Hill spokesperson Graham Sharpe.
Sports betting firms were relieved after Murray lost his semi-final clash with Roddick on Friday, as a Wimbledon triumph for the British number one would have resulted in a payout of approximately £10 million.
