Bets taken on Notts County reaching the top flight with sports betting firms.
With Notts County confirming the appointment of Sven-Goran Eriksson as director of football today (July 22nd), bookmakers are already seeing an increase in betting on the League Two club. The former England and Manchester City manager is due to start his new role with immediate effect and has spoken of his plans to guide the Magpies to the Premier League.
William Hill has made Notts County joint favourites to win League Two this season at 7/1 from an original 25/1, while Sky Bet is offering 50/1 on the club returning to the top division of England football by 2014.
Meanwhile, William Hill also makes Eriksson 10/1 to become a Premier League manager by the end of the season.
"We think Sven is positioning himself close to the action and should a Premier League post become vacant he will be on the radar. That said, he will need to do a good job for Notts County to stand a chance," commented William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams.
Eriksson will work alongside the Nottingham club's current boss Ian McParland, who spent eight years at Meadow Lane as a player and joined as manager in October 2007.
