Illness leads to online gambling jackpot for Surrey man

Online gamer wins £100,000 with free stake at William Hill's casino portal.

A carpenter from Surrey is celebrating this week after winning £100,000 while consigned to his bed with suspected swine flu.

Kevin Packer decided to kill some time playing online casino games after his doctor advised him to stay at home with flu-like symptoms last Tuesday (July 21st), the Daily Star reports.

After following an advert to William Hill's online casino portal, the 28-year-old managed to turn a free stake into £100,000 after nearly three hours playing slot machines.

"I must be the luckiest flu victim in the world," Mr Packer told the newspaper.

He added: "I still couldn't actually believe it as I am not a gambler and never go into the bookies. It took me a full day to realise it wasn't a dream. It was the best tonic in the world and pretty soon I was feeling much better."

William Hill recently announced that gamers won £750,000 on progressive jackpot slot machines over a 30-day period on its online casino service.
