A 32-year-old woman from Cumbria is believed to have won £1.2 million on an online bingo game.Lynsey Mirehouse, who lives in the town of Maryport and works for an insurance firm in nearby Workington, clinched the prize while playing at Mecca Bingo's online numbers game portal.
She found out about the windfall on Tuesday night (June 30th) and held a small party for friends at the home she shares with her husband Barry on Wednesday, the Times and Star reports.
Interviewed by the newspaper at her home yesterday, Ms Mirehouse said: "We haven't been to sleep. We are still trying to come to terms with it all.
"I don't really play that often. I couldn't believe it."
A spokesperson for Mecca Bingo confirmed that the payout is one of the largest amounts ever won by a player on its online service.
"It is fantastic news that one of our players has scooped such a huge prize, one of the largest we have ever seen," he told the newspaper.
