The event had a sluggish start, but by the end of the Day 1 signups there were a total of 6,494 people taking part, of which 648 will make the money.

The total prize pool stands at over $61 million, and the first place winner will take home more than $8.5 million!

Day two saw 1,476 players sitting down to battle it out, and of these 630 survived Day 1a. Eric Cloutier came out of the day as chip leader, with 384,000 in his stack – an impressive feat considering his chips had been miscounted at the end of Day 1, and his previously recorded 150,000 had actually only been 15,000! Second spot goes to Ed Perry with 370,000 in his stack, and Brandon Demes is close behind in third with 369,800.

Day 2 saw some unexpected eliminations – Gavin Smith, Amarillo Slim Preston, Mike Matusow, Gus Hansen, Sandra Naujoks, Tony G, and Barry Greentsein are among those who will not be returning for Day 3 play.
