Adelaide casino sees poker revenue increase by over 30 per cent in a year.

The improved performance of Adelaide's SkyCity Casino helped its parent company to record a 131 per cent increase in full-year profits.

SkyCity Entertainment Group, a casino firm based in New Zealand, reported that its net income rose to NZ$115.3 million (£47 million) in the 12-month period to June 30th, up from NZ$49.9 million a year earlier.

Results from the Adelaide gambling venue were particularly encouraging, with casino earnings before interest, tax and depreciation increasing by a record 20 per cent to reach NZ$85.2 million.

"We have been very pleased with the performance of our Adelaide casino this year," SkyCity chief executive Neil Morrison told the Advertiser.

According to the newspaper, revenue from poker games at SkyCity Adelaide has risen by more than 30 per cent in the last 12 months, while roulette and baccarat remain popular with visitors.

Mr Morrison said there was "exciting potential" for the casino, which was acquired by SkyCity in 2000, to expand further in the coming years.

The venue features approximately 1,000 slot machines and over 100 live gaming tables including blackjack, baccarat, roulette and Caribbean stud poker.
