Latest stop on the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour ends in victory for Richard Gryko.
Richard Gryko recorded his first major poker tournament victory at the G Casino in Luton on Sunday (August 9th).Outlasting a field of 304 players, the man from Brentwood in Essex defeated Blackpool's Alan McLean in a brief heads-up session to claim the first prize of £88,850 at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) event.
McLean went home with £53,950, while Shrewsbury player Clive Madden pocketed £35,850 after being eliminated in third place.
Other players at the final table in Luton included Chuck Thompson, a poker pro from California who finished sixth in the 1995 World Series of Poker main event.
Gryko also has experience of the WSOP, having been the last Englishman standing in the main event three years ago.
He is now third in the GUKPT rankings, behind Martin Silke and Sunny Chattha.
The GUKPT heads to Coventry for the final Summer Series event from August 27th to 30th, while leg seven gets underway at the Grosvenor Casino in Cardiff on August 31st.
