Bingo venue hopes to boost attendance levels with new look

New exterior will bring more numbers game fans through the doors, hopes Johnstone bingo boss.

A bingo hall in Scotland is hoping to attract new customers with an exterior makeover.

Johnstone's New Globe Bingo Club recently completed an overhaul of the interior and its owner is now turning his attention to the entrance of the building, the Paisley Daily Express reports.

The venue first opened its doors 45 years ago and is used by approximately 2,500 people every week.

Owner Richard Laciok told the newspaper: "The hall is an art deco style and the outside is to be renovated as well to be an art deco style.

"Everyone is looking forward to the renovation, it will make a big difference to the building … Hopefully this renovation will help bring more people through the door."

Mr Laciok plans to add new signage and lighting features to the entrance, as well installing a new fascia and painting the exterior of the building.

The biggest bingo jackpot on record was claimed in Scotland, with 38-year-old cleaner Soraya Lowell scooping £1.2 million at a bingo hall in Coatbridge in March 2008.
