Bookmakers offer reduced odds on Benitez's departure as Liverpool struggle to find form.
Bookmakers have again cut their odds on Rafa Benitez leaving Liverpool following Aston Villa's 3-1 win at Anfield on Monday night (August 24th).The compilers at William Hill make the Spaniard their 5/2 second favourite to be the first Premier League boss to make an exit this season behind Hull City manager Phil Brown, while Sky Bet has installed Benitez as the 11/10 favourite in that market.
Liverpool suffered their first home defeat in the Premier League since December 2007 against Villa and have now taken just three points from a possible nine this season.
"It's hard to see Liverpool's present squad mounting a challenge to Chelsea and Manchester United," commented Sky Bet spokesperson Helen Jacob.
"Liverpool seem to have problems on and off the pitch and after such a poor start, Benitez would seem to be on shaky ground."
Paddy Power is now offering a series of special bets on Liverpool, with Benitez no longer being manager on Christmas Day priced at 15/8, while the Merseyside club are 9/4 not to finish in the top four this season.
