Bingo staff hope their trip to Mount Everest will help to raise £100,000 for charity.
A bingo hall manager from the north-west is hoping to set a new world record by playing the numbers game on Mount Everest next month.Mark Simm of Gala Bingo in Blackburn and his team will visit the world's highest mountain to play bingo at 17,500 ft while staying at the Everest base camp, the Blackburn Citizen reports.
The 25-strong group of bingo fans are aiming to raise £100,000 for the Sue Ryder Care charity and claim the record for the world's highest bingo session in the process.
Mr Simm told the newspaper: "This trek is a once-in-a-lifetime challenge for me and what keeps me going is the thought of standing on base camp, dabber in my hand, knowing that I'll be raising vital funds for Sue Ryder Care. I hope we can do them proud."
Simon Longbottom, managing director of Gala Bingo, said that he was "incredibly proud" of Mr Simm and the rest of the team for planning the trip, which begins on October 19th.
Situated on the border of Nepal and Tibet, the summit of Mount Everest stands at 29,029 ft above sea level.
