Mason took home £7,000 after winning amateur poker title in Nottingham.
Chris Mason outlasted a field of 157 players to win the Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT) World Championship on Sunday (August 30th).The poker player beat Jamie Reeve in heads-up play after coming through a final table that also included Ian Overson, Chris Filus, James Bagley, John Miller, Ant Williams, Oystein Eggen and Dave Potter at the Dusk Till Dawn poker venue in Nottingham.
Mason pocketed £7,000 for his victory, as well as booking a place in the grand final of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, while Reeve took home £5,000 for finishing in second place, Bluff Europe reports.
Bagley was the early chip leader with a stack of 187,500 at the end of the first day, while Reeve amassed 127,500 chips in the opening sessions.
Before Mason's triumph, Paul Pitchford took down the APAT Omaha Championship to collect £1,300.
The final day in Nottingham also featured the APAT HORSE event, in which Andrew Tracey took the gold medal and £1,000 first prize after defeating Jon Woodfield heads-up.
Dusk Till Dawn will host the English Poker Open later this month, with big-name poker players such as Doyle Brunson and Joe Beevers due to take part in the tournament.
