Five has agreed to show interactive casino gaming as part of its late-night programming.
A live and interactive gambling show will become available to TV viewers on Five later this month. The UK terrestrial channel has signed a deal with NetPlay, a provider of interactive casino games, to broadcast the real-time roulette show from September 17th.
Initially showing between 00:00 BST and 04:00 BST three nights a week, the programme will extend to six nights a week in October and is scheduled to be shown every night of the week in 2010.
According to the Telegraph, Five agreed the contract with NetPlay in response to the recent dip in advertising revenues for TV networks.
"There has been a decline in advertising and they're desperately looking for new sources of revenue, this will help them," explained Martin Higginson, chief executive of NetPlay.
"If it proves successful, we will look to extend it to other UK channels and into other countries."
Launched in 1997, Five is owned by Europe's largest commercial broadcasting company RTL Group.
