Bingo chain wants members to send in their favourite recipes

Bingo operator is holding a national competition to find the best recipes in the UK.

Mecca Bingo is still urging fans of the numbers game to put their favourite recipes forward for a national competition.

As part of its fundraising drive for the Whizz-Kidz charity, the bingo chain is encouraging its members to share their best recipes for inclusion in a special cookery book later this year.

At the end of the competition, the most impressive list of ingredients and cooking instructions will be named Recipe of the Year 2009, OK! Magazine reports.

Mecca Bingo's rules state that recipes must serve four people, take less than 90 minutes to prepare and cost less than £5 to produce to be eligible for consideration.

Launching the campaign at the Mecca Bingo in Crewe last month, the club's general manager Gill Clark told the Crewe Chronicle: "We know our members pass on recipes, advice and generally help each other out, so what better way to celebrate that?"

Whizz-Kidz is a charity that works to provide young disabled people with mobility equipment, wheelchair skills training and general support.
