Bingo operator is aiming to raise £1 million for the Sue Ryder Care charity.
Gala Bingo has created a special online game to support a group of employees planning a fundraising expedition to Mount Everest.The team of 24 bingo workers will embark on a 75-mile journey up the world's highest mountain to generate money for Sue Ryder Care, the official charity of the Gala Coral group, in October.
In anticipation of their efforts, Gala has set up an Everest game at its online bingo portal, with ten per cent of all ticket sales going towards the fundraising campaign.
Paul Woodward, chief executive at Sue Ryder Care, said: "We're delighted that a group of employees have volunteered to trek to Everest base camp to help raise vital funds for Sue Ryder Care.
"We hope as many people as possible support their fundraising effort through the dedicated bingo game."
The team heading to Everest hope to raise £100,000 for Sue Ryder Care, with Gala aiming to generate £1 million for the charity by 2010.
A provider of care facilities to people suffering from cancer and other long-term conditions, Sue Ryder Care needs to raise approximately £74 million each year to support its activities.
