Prospective casino developers in Scarborough have been invited to an open day by the local authority.
A coastal town in northern England is holding an opening day for potential casino operators later this month.Scarborough Council will welcome a number of investors and developers to the North Yorkshire town on September 24th, as it seeks to secure an operator for a small casino to add to its existing gambling facility, Scarborough Evening News reports.
The local authority was granted a licence for the casino under the Gambling Act 2005 alongside eight other councils, including Luton, Swansea, Torbay and Wolverhampton.
David Bastiman, cabinet member for regeneration at Scarborough Council, explained that the open day had already received a "positive response" from potential attendees.
He told the newspaper: "The idea is to show them the benefits of Scarborough, how well it is doing and what they can expect from the town.
"We are also very interested to hear their ideas for the casino and possible ideas for where it should be sited."
Scarborough's existing casino is the Opera House, which measures 23,000 sq ft and includes six roulette tables, three blackjack tables and holds regular Texas hold'em poker tournaments.
