Sports betting firms see little support for England in one-day cricket betting.

William Hill has slashed the odds on Australia handing out a humiliating whitewash to England in the current one-day series.

Following England's 39-run loss in the second one-day international (ODI) at Lord's on Sunday (September 6th), the sports betting provider reduced its price for Australia to secure a 7-0 series victory from 10/1 to 8/1.

The latest result was preceded by a four-run defeat at the Oval for England, although fans of the home side did witness the 21-year-old leg-spinner Adil Rashid stake a claim for a starting spot after an impressive 31 runs with the bat and ten probing overs.

However, William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams, explained that betting for the third test is unlikely to be patriotic.

He said: "Our punters have no faith in England and an Aussie whitewash is the cricket bet of choice."

William Hill has England at 11/8 to win the third ODI, while Australia are priced at 8/15.
