The intrepid fundraisers hope to claim the world record for the highest ever bingo game.

A group of Gala Bingo employees are currently trekking their way to Mount Everest to raise money for the Sue Ryder Care charity.

The team of 24 people arrived in Kathmandu last weekend and are now making their way towards Everest Base Camp, where they hope to take part in the world's highest ever bingo game.

A blog entry posted by the team on Tuesday (October 20th) revealed that they were preparing to "head off into the wilderness" following a walk around the ridge line of Namche Bazaar for acclimatisation purposes.

The trek is expected to finish this Saturday, when the numbers game workers will play bingo at 17,500 feet.

By completing the expedition, the Gala Bingo team is hoping to raise over £100,000 for Sue Ryder Care, which works with people suffering from cancer, stroke, dementia, multiple sclerosis and other long-term conditions.

Gala Coral has set a target of generating £1 million for the organisation by next year.
