The West Midlands bingo venue is set for a £1.6 million upgrade, it has emerged.
A bingo club in the West Midlands has been earmarked for a £1.6 million overhaul, it has emerged.The Mecca Bingo venue in Oldbury is set to add new restaurant, bar and live entertainment facilities as part of a complete internal refurbishment, the Express and Star reports.
According to the newspaper, 22 new jobs will be created as a result of the upgrade, which will also see the club's traditional bingo caller replaced by two 'bingo hosts'.
Mecca Bingo is converting several of its existing venues into Full House clubs, which aim to provide a contemporary twist on the traditional numbers game and attract a younger clientele.
General manager of the Oldbury club Andrew Smith described the concept as "an evolution of bingo as we know it".
The first Full House venue to be launched by Mecca Bingo was its new club in the Nottingham suburb of Beeston, which opened in May this year.
