New development in County Tipperary would include a casino, race course and concert arena.
Plans for a major new entertainment complex in County Tipperary feature a casino, a race course and a replica of the White House.A group of Irish businessmen want to build the resort, which also features a large concert arena and has been dubbed 'Ireland's Las Vegas', near the village of Two-Mile Borris.
The 460 million (£416 million) development is the brainchild of Dublin-based slot machine tycoon Richard Quirke, but has been backed by former Irish government minister Michael Lowry and racehorse trainer Aidan O'Brien, the BBC reports.
Initial plans for the 800-acre complex will be submitted to North Tipperary County Council later today (October 28th).
According to the Belfast Telegraph, there is "plenty of local enthusiasm" surrounding the development but it remains "unclear" whether it will be given the green light by the authorities.
The White House has been planned as the centrepiece of the resort and will be named after James Hoban, the Irish architect who designed the US president's official residence in Washington DC.
