Wynn Resorts is due to open its second casino in Macau next year.
US gambling mogul Steve Wynn expects the Macau government to slow down the pace of development in the Chinese enclave's casino centre.Billed as Macau's equivalent of the Las Vegas Strip, the Cotai Strip features a number of luxury casino resorts owned by American firms such as Las Vegas Sands and MGM Mirage.
Speaking to Reuters, Mr Wynn said that new gambling regulations currently being drafted by the local authorities indicate a desire to limit casino expansion in Cotai.
"I've got a feeling that the government's going to tamp it [Cotai] down," the founder and chief executive of Wynn Resorts said.
He told the news agency: "If they limit the amount of [gaming] tables there is no reason to build any more."
The Macau government is planning to impose limits on the number of table games in casino resorts and increase the legal age for gambling from 18 to 21.
Wynn Resorts opened the Wynn Macau in September 2006 and a second casino complex, the Encore Macau, is due to open in April next year.
