New Casino Venue Opens in Dundee

Gambling firm aims to have 20 G Casinos operating in the UK by the end of 2012.

G Casino has taken its number of UK gaming venues up to nine with the launch of a new venue in Dundee.

The £5.5 million casino opened its doors in the Scottish city on Friday (October 16th) and features blackjack and roulette tables, slot machines with jackpots of £4,000 and a 100-seater poker room.

According to STV, over 1,200 Dundee residents have applied for jobs at the gambling venue, which will employ approximately 100 people.

"We've actually had a fantastic reaction," general manager Linda Hodges told the news provider.

"Everybody has been very excited about it, very supportive, happy to see such a fantastic venue coming to Dundee," she added.

The Dundee nightspot will offer free lessons for casino novices every Friday and Saturday evening.

Coventry's Ricoh Arena gambling venue is set to reopen as a G Casino later this month, having formerly been operated by US firm Isle of Capri.

Rank Group, the owner of the G Casino brand, has revealed plans to have 20 venues open in the UK by the end of 2012.
