Players take on the dealer in three-card poker

Christchurch Casino is the first in New Zealand to offer three-card poker.

Christchurch Casino has become the first gambling venue in New Zealand to offer three-card poker facilities.

The casino decided to add the table game after completing a refurbishment of its central gaming floor and expects it to be popular with members who like to play against the dealer.

Spokesperson Brett Anderson said that three-card poker is both "easy to learn" and "great fun to play".

He added: "Since you are not playing against the other players, camaraderie can develop among the players as they root and cheer for each other to beat the dealer."

Christchurch Casino is open 24 hours a day and features 34 table games alongside 500 slot machines.

The venue was also the first of its kind in New Zealand to bring poker to the gaming floor, having first introduced the game 12 years ago.

Describing itself as 'the home of New Zealand poker', the casino is due to host the New Zealand Poker Championships in April next year.
