Sports Betting: Portsmouth Still Fancied For Drop

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart is still under pressure

Portsmouth are 6/4 to finish bottom of the league despite victory over Wolves last weekend.

Portsmouth won their first points of the season on Saturday (October 3rd) and Saudi billionaire Ali al-Faraj has just completed his takeover at Fratton Park, but the south coast club are still facing a battle for survival this season.

Bookmakers have yet to lengthen their odds on relegation for Portsmouth, despite Hassan Yebda's goal giving them a much-needed victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.

Sky Bet makes Paul Hart's side 6/4 to finish bottom of the Premier League table this season, while they remain the 1/3 favourites for relegation with Ladbrokes.

Meanwhile, the odds of Hart lasting out the season as Portsmouth manager have been cut from 5/2 to 2/1 by Sky Bet following the takeover, which saw al-Faraj acquire a 90 per cent stake in the club.

If Pompey do avoid relegation, they will become the first English club to escape the drop after losing their first seven games of the season since Liverpool in 1899.

Tottenham Hotspur are the next opponents for Portsmouth, with Harry Redknapp's side travelling to Fratton Park after the international break on Saturday October 17th.
