Sam Allardyce's Blackburn Rovers have suffered a swine flu outbreak

The bookmaker is offering bets on whether swine flu will force Premier League games to be cancelled.

A bookmaker is offering new bets on swine flu affecting the Premier League after several Blackburn Rovers players were diagnosed with the illness earlier this week.

William Hill makes it 6/1 that one or more top-flight matches will be postponed due to swine flu this season, with Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson recently revealing that members of his squad have also picked up the virus.

"Several clubs are apparently suffering from swine flu, so it is not impossible that games could be put at risk if entire squads are struck down," said Graham Sharpe, spokesperson for the sports betting firm.

William Hill is also offering 1/12 on there being no swine flu postponements in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, the Health Protection Agency has warned that footballers who spit on the pitch during matches could be increasing the risk of swine flu infections spreading.

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce believes that Chelsea could be the next team to suffer an outbreak, as his side played the west Londoners in the Premier League last weekend.
