A Glasgow bingo club had a special guest caller for a recent session.
Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Alex Salmond recently completed a short shift as a bingo caller in Glasgow. The politician visited a numbers game venue in the Glasgow North East constituency with David Kerr, the SNP candidate for the November 12th by-election in which Mr Salmond's party hope to challenge Labour.
According to the Times, the leader was introduced to a crowd of about 100 bingo players as a special guest and proceeded to call out the numbers, although his presence was not enough to convince some of the regulars.
"[He] seemed OK but I don't know who I am going to vote for," Betty Fraser, 72, told the newspaper.
However, Mr Salmond suggested that his party had received a good omen after the winning bingo number came out as 74 - the number of years that Labour have held the Glasgow North East seat.
The by-election was arranged after Michael Martin stood down as Speaker of the House of Commons following the expenses scandal earlier this year.
