Jenson Button is expected to join Lewis Hamilton at McLaren

Lewis Hamilton remains the bookmakers' favourite for next year's F1 drivers championship.

Formula One world champion Jenson Button is now odds-on with sports betting firms to be driving for McLaren next season.

The Englishman is currently involved in negotiations over a move from current team Brawn and William Hill makes him 1/2 to be a McLaren driver when F1 resumes for 2010.

According to a report in the Guardian on Monday (November 16th), Button is set to agree a three-year contract worth £6 million a year with the Woking-based team.

If he does make the switch, the 29-year-old will partner 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton in an all-British line-up for McLaren.

William Hill is already taking bets on which driver will score the most points next year, with Hamilton priced at 1/2 and Button available at 6/4.

Meanwhile, Hamilton remains the bookmakers' favourite to win next year's championship, with Betfred offering 11/4 on the Stevenage-born driver.

Fernando Alonso is second favourite at 3/1, while Button can be backed at 7/1 to defend his title.
