The football stadium is still a prospective venue for a new gambling centre, it has been claimed.
The new casino planned for Wolverhampton could still be located at the city's Molineux football stadium, it has been claimed.According to the Express & Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers are still interested in the prospect of building a gambling venue at the ground, despite reports to the contrary.
It was thought that Wolverhampton Racecourse had already been earmarked for the casino, but the newspaper suggested that the development could still take place at the stadium.
Club spokesperson Matt Grayson told the publication: "It is not on the agenda at the moment, but we always keep an open mind about these things."
However, the racecourse has already unveiled plans to create the UK's first "racino" by adding an integrated gambling venue to its horse racing facilities.
The £26 million project would involve extending the site's existing hotel and could create up to 280 new jobs, according to operator Arena Leisure.
Wolverhampton was one of eight UK locations to receive a licence for a new small casino last year.
