Jan Skampa has won the European Poker Tournament Prague.
Czech student Jan Skampa took the 682,000 (£619,677) prize money following his victory at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague 2009.The 23-year-old student, who lives in the city, beat Israeli businessman Eyal Avitan in the final three-hour heads-up battle to win the poker tournament.
A fourth-placed finish was achieved by Skampa two weeks ago at EPT Vilamoura, where he won nearly 120,000.
This time around he was the winner in a field of 584 taking part in the 5,250 main event. As the first Czech EPT champion, Skampa wins a seat at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo next April.
He said: "It feels great to win. It's my fourth EPT and I won it in my home town - that must be one of the greatest accomplishments you can have in poker."
EPT legend Luca Pagano made his sixth EPT final table at the competition but could only manage a sixth-place finish.
