Online Bookmaker Makes Manchester United Carling Cup Favourites

The online bookmaker William Hill lists Manchester United as 6/4 to defend the Carling Cup.

Bookmaker William Hill has listed Manchester United as the favourites to win the Carling Cup following their qualification for the semi-finals of the competition.

The bookmaker is offering odds of 6/4 for the Red Devils to defend the trophy that they won last March.

United beat last year's finalists Tottenham Hotspur to seal their place in the semi-finals where they will meet local rivals Manchester City, who are in search of their first piece of major silverware since their 1976 success in the competition.

Despite this the bookmaker lists City as 5/2 second favourites for the Carling Cup, with fellow semi-finalists Aston Villa at 11/4 and Blackburn Rovers at 9/2.

William Hill makes United 4/6 favourites to defeat City in the two-leg semi-finals, while the blue Manchester club are 11/10 to snatch a victory.

In the other semi-final Villa are 8/15 to defeat Rovers who are 11/8.
