United travel to the Emirates in buoyant mood following their Carling Cup semi final success against bitter local rivals Manchester United on Wednesday night and will be looking to secure three points towards their charge for a record fourth successive title win.

Arsenal head into the game off the back of Wednesday's 0-0 draw at Villa Park against 7th placed Aston Villa.

United will be without England defender Rio Ferdinand for the fixture following him being handed a four match ban for violent conduct by the Football Association after a clash with Hull City midfielder Craig Fagan last Saturday.
