Sports betting fans receive winnings for correct score predictions.
Sports betting paid off for one punter despite him fearing he had initially missed out on any winnings.Mark McCann from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire correctly predicted the scores of SkyBet's Super 6 games on Boxing Day but missed out on the £100,000 prize to a fellow Scotsman who was closer to predicting the time of the first goal scored in the games.
Jonathan Kilpatrick chose a time which was closer to the 17th minute Darren Bent goal in Sunderland's fixture against Everton at the Stadium of Light, so took the grand prize.
However, Mr McCann has been rewarded with a £5,000 consolation prize for his efforts.
Dale Tempest, Sky Bet's director of public relations, said: "We couldn't let Mark go away empty handed after such a great effort and hopefully, this will be some small consolation for being so close to the £100,000 prize."
Sports betting fans may want to predict who will be the next manager of Burnley with SkyBet listing former player Mike Phelan as favourite at 3/1.
