Sports betting firm provides its latest odds for Andy Murray to win the Austrailian Open.
Sports betting firm Sky Bet has slashed odds on Andy Murray in its 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award betting from 4/1 to 2/1.The move follows the Scotsman's victory over world number two Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open quarter-finals.
The online bookmakers now rates Murray at odds of 1/4 to best Marin Cilic in the semi-finals and 11/8 favourite to win his first ever Grand Slam title at Melbourne Park.
Sky Bet spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: "Given that a British male hasn't won a Grand Slam since Fred Perry in the thirties, if Murray wins at Melbourne Park, he is sure to go odds-on for Sports Personality of the Year."
Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney is also in contention for the award as he attempts to lead club and country to glory this year.
The bookmakers offers Rooney at odds of 6/1 following four goals against Hull City at the weekend.
Rooney takes on Manchester City tonight at Old Trafford in the semi-final of the Carling Cup.
