Sports betting firm asks: Taylor for the title?
Sports betting firm Sky Bet has revealed darts odds ahead of the start of the new season this Thursday (January 28th).The 2010 darts season gets under way on Thursday and world champion Phil Taylor is the 4/11 favourite to win the Players' Championship.
James Wade, winner of the 2009 Premier League title, is available at 10/1, with Gary Anderson next at odds of 14/1.
Sky Bet's darts betting spokesman Tim Reynolds said: "If anybody is going to stop Phil Taylor from winning back-to-back tournaments they are really going to have to raise their game and have a tournament average of at least 105."
With Sky Bet stating that sports betting opportunities are "thin on the ground given Taylor's prohibitive odds", the firm has revealed a number of special markets for the tournament at Purfleet's Circus Tavern.
For two or more players to hit a 170 checkout they offer 13/8. It is 7/4 that there is no 170 finish and 7/4 for one 170 finish. For any player to hit a magical nine-dart finish is available at odds of 9/4.
Phil Taylor has won 15 World Championship finals.
