Online bookmakers reveals odds for a cold year ahead

Bookmakers asks: How cold will it get during the year ahead?

Bookmakers William Hill has slashed the price of 2010 being the coldest on record from 25/1 to 4/1.

The bookmakers also offers odds of 10/1 that Scotland will see its coldest ever temperature this year, with England offered at 12/1.

"We have a five figure liability on 2010 being the coldest on record and we are in for a long winter," said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams

A number of betting specials could tempt punters to predict how the weather will be in the UK during 2010, although online bookmakers may be an option to consider if looking to avoid the chill outside when placing a bet.

Odds of 12/1 are available for the lowest recorded temperature in England, -26.1 degrees Celsius recorded in Shropshire in 1982, to be beaten at some point during the year.

Optimistic gamblers may wish to bet that it snows during the Wimbledon Championship this summer, which is available at 200/1 and is something that tennis fans will be hoping to avoid.
