Sports betting firm provides latest England captaincy odds

Sports betting fans asked if Rooney will succeed Terry as captain.

Sports betting fans may want to predict who will lead England in the opening game of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, as speculation about John Terry's future as captain continues.

England boss Fabio Capello is back in the UK and the Football Association has revealed that any decision on Terry's future in the role will be left to the Italian manager.

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney has again seen his odds slashed by William Hill as punters continue to back the in-form striker.

"With punters betting up to £250 a time on Rooney taking over the armband we've had to cut his odds significantly again," said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Terry has seen his odds lengthened from 4/9 to 4/7 to skipper England against the USA, while second favourite Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is available at odds of 5/2.

The Chelsea defender is available at odds of 8/13 to keep the armband in the upcoming friendly against Egypt and 6/5 to lose it.
